Samsung LN46A550 Review

June 29, 2008 by Jay

So I’ve been busy moving into a new apartment, and setting stuff up.  I just purchased the Samsung LN46A550, after searching the reviews on Amazon. It is easily the best television I have ever owned, and I’ve only had it a few days.

Where do we go after we’re gone?

May 8, 2008 by Jay

As you can probably tell, I have been very reflective as of late, and I’ve come to wonder a lot of the facets of life.  There are too many things that happen that are coincidence, so I tend to think something is out there in the universe.  I guess it echoes the theme of my statistics teacher “Trust chance.” [Read more…]

Understanding is probably the hardest part.

May 1, 2008 by Jay

What I think may be the hardest thing in the world is losing a parent.  While I have remained mostly publicly silent about it, I think I finally have something of importance to say about it.  Something that might mean something to someone out there. [Read more…]

Global Warming Not So Bad After All

March 27, 2008 by Jay

On the afternoon of August 13, 2005 a huge ice shelf broke off near the North Pole. Scientists were able to pinpoint the exact time of the collapse because of a shift on the seismic scale – the earthquake monitors detected it from 155 miles away. [Read more…]

Parallels makes my Macbook "Ultimate"

March 18, 2008 by Jay

UPDATE 11/24/2008- Parallels Desktop 4 Review here.

I have been using computers since Windows 3.1, where icons were the big addition to the operating system.  Always in school we used apple computers.

Last year, my dell laptop had been acting funny.  I finally caved and bought a macbook precisely one year ago.  It’s cool, a lot smaller (I couldn’t afford the larger models, even as a student)

The tragic flaw was, for some of the homework I needed to do, I needed windows.  I would have to switch back and forth between laptops, or go use the windows computers in the library.  This was always a pain.

Fridge Etiquette

March 11, 2008 by Jay

It’s become aware to me that different households have different rules on the fridge. At my house, theres an open fridge, meaning anyone can take stuff out of it. However, if you have leftovers, they are usually yours, unless your relinquish them to someone else.  How do you work this out?

Return Your Library Books!

March 9, 2008 by Jay

Does anyone remember that episode of Seinfeld where the library police came after Jerry for not returning “Tropic of Capricorn?” Well, as it would turn out the library police do in reality exist, and they do make arrests. See what happened to a Wisconsin woman when she thought the library police were just sitcom fiction.
