Martin Luther, German leader of the Protestant Reformation, died in the year 1546.

On this day in history 1564 Michelangelo Buonarotti, who was an Italian painter, sculptor, and architect, died.

The first 3-D movie, Bwana Devil, opened in New York on this day in  history 1953.

In 2001 Dale Earnhardt, Sr., died from injuries sustained at the Daytona 500.
